Tip of the Iceberg: Discussions on Spirituality & Sexuality February 10-12, 2012 This retreat grew out of discussions, observations and statistics that are being highlighted on an almost weekly basis regarding sexuality, along with the one sided view of sexuality and the almost non-existent discussion and consideration of spirituality and it relationship to sexuality. We observed an incomplete explanation, education and facilitation of sexuality that didn’t consider God’s view. And consequently affirming our denominations belief that the two are inseparable and cannot be considered exclusively. The current environment really only promotes and highlights the ‘Tip of the Iceberg’ in any discussion on spirituality and sexuality. The purpose of this retreat is to create a safe place for all to begin or continue to understand the multi-faceted nature of sexuality. This holistic approach includes appreciation for the theological, emotional, physical and spiritual nature of our bodies as more than just flesh and bone but a holy assembly of God’s design. We affirm that our sexuality is a part of who we are in God’s creation.
